MAINTENANCE

      TUNING & BRAKES

When it comes to safety, no part of your vehicle is more important than the brakes. They should be inspected at least once a year to determine the condition of the hydraulic system and operating hardware. While the entire braking system requires attention, the friction materials - the pads, shoes, rotors and drums - require constant attention because they wear down each time you apply your brakes.

Tip:

HOW CAN I TELL WHEN MY BRAKES NEED SERVICING?

  • The brake pedal can be depressed nearly to the floor.

  • You hear a squealing or other unusual noise when you apply the brakes. Some brands of brake pads have a built-in device that produces a high-pitched squeal when the brake pads are wearing thin.

  • The car pulls to one side when you apply the brakes.

  • You feel a grinding or bumpy sensation as you come to a stop.

  • In general, if there is something about your brakes that is making you uncomfortable, you should have them inspected.

      CAR SERVICING

A full car service should be carried out every 12,000 miles or 12 months to keep your car maintained correctly. It is important to have a full service carried out as a trained mechanic could spot damage early and prevent further costs if something were to go wrong with your car. It is unlikely that you will be able to spot any potential problems yourself.

Tip: HOW CAN I TELL MY CAR NEEDS TO BE SERVICED?

  • Flashing check engine light

  • Smoke coming from under hood

  • Excessive smoke from the exhaust

  • Recurring or sudden transmission issues

  • Leakes

  • Noise while drving

  • Engine chugging , racing or shaking

      WHEELS & SUSPENSION

Your car's suspension and steering system allows your wheels to move independently of the car, while keeping it "suspended" and stable. Any play or uncontrolled motion in these systems results in handling deterioration and accelerated tire wear. Also, your vehicle's alignment affects the condition of the suspension and steering systems. Contact our professional staff today for an inspection, or schedule repairs to your vehicle's suspension and steering system.

Tip: HOW CAN I TELL WHEN MY WHEELS & SUSPENSION NEEDS TO BE SERVICED?

  • Vehicle pulls to one side while driving – tires with different levels of tread wear or inflation can cause this.

  • Steering seems to slip as you hold the wheel in a turned position – low steering fluid, a loose steering pump belt, or worn or damaged steering rack components can cause this.

  • Steering wheel takes a great deal of effort to turn

  • Steering wheel bounces up and down while traveling at highway speeds or when braking

  • Steering wheel “wander”

Auto maintenance describes the act of inspecting or testing the condition of car subsystems (e.g., engine) and servicing or replacing parts and fluids. Regular maintenance is critical to ensure the safety, reliability, drivability, comfort and longevity of a car. During preventive maintenance, a number of parts are replaced to avoid major damage or for safety reasons, e.g. timing belt replacement.
